Six Pics I Clicked drops every week: one essay, the photos that clicked, and whatever I've been obsessed with and texting around.

I started out at Pier 59 Studios in New York, where I spent six years watching the famous photographers and fashion legends I'd had taped to my teenage bedroom wall work before they'd had coffee. Now I shoot about 155,000 frames a year as a portrait photographer, and my photo tips for busy parents have run in PureWow, New York Family and You've Got Royal Mail.

The six images are my visual diary. It's not a portfolio. It's the six photos that clicked for me this week, and in some weeks that includes a parking lot. Sometimes I post them with no description at all and let you make of them what you want. It's a practice in noticing small things, which is mostly how I stay lit up.

Over on Instagram I've started filming the least remarkable parts of my day and stitching them together anyway. Ode to the Ordinary. Lego demolition, boots in the hall, the specific silence of a car with three kids in it who have all stopped talking at once. None of it is an occasion! That's exactly why I keep it. The occasions take care of themselves, and nobody has ever once forgotten to photograph a birthday. It's the Tuesdays that go missing.

You come for the photos because you have a good eye and you’re not humble about it. You use your aesthetic to make daily life happier.

You come for the writing because it sounds like the inside of your brain. Maybe you’re an ADHD squirrel, like me. Maybe you just love perfect memes. Either way, you feel everything, you laugh too loud, and when something is genuinely true and specific, it does something to you.

You stay for the people. I’m building a community of us: photo-obsessed noticers who share this outlook on life. I think the oldest human need is a witness, someone to turn to and say, “Are you seeing this right now?” And everyone here will be happy to see that you are watching, too.

And there's The Committee, which is where I put something to a vote and you all decide it. Every issue. I report the tally the following week without fail, because the one time I don't, I will hear about it. (And I should!)
